That said, perhaps you want to do research first or lack time to call. Luckily, we at Weatherford Dental Sleep Medicine have you covered: compiled below is a list of common questions we hear – with helpful answers included. Hopefully, it’ll help you learn what to expect from a sleep dentist near Granbury!

What’s the Best Way to Find a Sleep Dentist?

As you consider possible providers, remember that most dentists aren’t trained in dental sleep medicine. The latter represents a specialization not covered in a general dentist’s curriculum. Therefore, you’ll want to be careful and select someone with the proper training.

One good approach is to see if a dentist belongs to groups related to sleep dentistry. For instance, our own Dr. Romack is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. With such memberships, dentists show they take dental sleep medicine seriously and keep updated on the latest facts.

What Level of Education is Required to be a Sleep Dentist?

Degree-wise, a qualified sleep dentist has the same level of education as a general one. In other words, they’ll have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution before entering a dental program. From there, the dentist will have graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine from said program. This latter step usually involves a three-year process.

Technically, the American Dental Association doesn’t recognize dental sleep medicine as a specialty area. However, the association’s continuing education program does accept AADSM CE courses. Consequently, the ideal sleep dentist will have also taken these courses – especially those related to airway obstruction, snoring, and upper airway resistance syndrome.

How Much Does Sleep Apnea Treatment Cost in Granbury?

According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, people with sleep apnea pay an average of $2,105 annually for testing, appointments, appliances, and (if necessary) surgery. Still, how much your own treatment costs will depend on various factors. These include:

What Do You Do If You Can’t Afford a Sleep Dentist?

Even if you don’t have insurance, there’s no need to worry. Other ways exist to make sleep dentistry affordable. Many practices, in fact, have options that help patients with payment.

For example, look at our own Weatherford Dental Sleep Medicine. We happen to offer flexible financing through CareCredit. This option allows you to pay with low-interest monthly installments. That way, you can better manage the relevant expenses. Plus, the CareCredit service has various plans to choose from; it’s thus easy to find one that matches your budget and timeframe.
